26 Children's Winters
What do you remember from the winters of your childhood? Snowball fights, Christmas presents, staring out of the window at the rain, or building dens under the table and doing jigsaw puzzles?

The Museum of Childhood and the 26 group of writers decided to explore objects in the Museum collections that evoked childhood memories of winter. 26 is a diverse group of people who share a love of words and have invented a form of writing called a sestude, consisting of 62 words.

26 individual writers were selected and given objects associated with winter and asked to write their responses in a sestude.

The objects were chosen to represent either winter festivities such as Christmas or Halloween, activities that children occupied themselves with indoors and outdoors, and also functional objects such as medicines or clothes for keeping warm.
