Title
Opening of Edinburgh Central Fire Station, Lauriston Place
Description
Three horse-drawn fire engines and appliances stand in front of the newly built Edinburgh Central Fire Station, Lauriston Place. They are manned by firemen in uniform wearing Merryweather helmets. The station has four arched entranceways on the ground floor and is designed in an Arts and Crafts style. It has a tall tower that can be seen towards the rear of the building. Two boys lean against the railings on the right-hand side and a large group of adults and children in Victorian dress stand on the left.
