Contemporary Edinburgh in Photographs
This vast array of photographs show the old and new towns of Edinburgh World Heritage Site situated within its unique geographic landscape amongst volcanic rock formations and by the Water of Leith and the Firth of Forth.

The past is remembered through a legacy of monuments and relics. The images guide the viewer around Edinburgh, through streets and gardens, lanes and graveyards capturing the often overlooked details which signpost the city's cultural heritage.

This is a contemporary view of Scotland's capital, capturing the energy of a vibrant festival city through depictions of street entertainers and gathered crowds on the Royal Mile and winter skaters in Princes Street Gardens.

However, modern day Edinburgh is most clearly seen in the juxtapositions of old and new, where new developments stand side by side with old. The photographs record the growth and change to Edinburgh's cityscape and remind us of its illustrious history.
