London Scottish territorial soldiers preparing to make a charge at Messines seven miles south of Ypres. The regiment were the first TA regiment into battle on the 31st of October 1914. The group were commended for their bravery in this assault in which they had to charge three times under heavy artillery fire before Messines Ridge was taken.
