Temple Mount (also known as Mount Zion) holds major significance as a place of religious importance in Jerusalem. According to the Hebrew Bible, Solomon's temple (also known as the First Temple) used to exist on this site until it was destroyed after the Siege of Jerusalem in 587 BC. King Solomon (970 - 931BC) was a king of Israel and is the subject of much reverence and myth for Christians, Jews and Muslims.
