Title
The Secret Session
Description
"William: 'Look here, lads, we are hard pressed by the Police: we must invent some peace trick which will allow us to get away with the swag.'"
"The first cartoon in which the new ruler of Austria-Hungary appears. Speaking at the sitting of the Main Committee of the Reichstag, 9 November 1916, the German Chancellor, replying to Lord Grey's speech on the establishment of an International Peace League after the War, proclaimed that Germany was ready to place herself at the head of such a union. On 12 December the Chancellor announced in the Reichstag that a Note had been despatched that morning through the Neutrals to the hostile Powers with a proposal to enter into peace negotiations."
