Title
A stable peace
Description
"The Kaiser. "And remember, if they do not accept, I deny it altogether".
"The obstacle to the opening of peace negotiations between the Allies and the Dual Alliance, at the date of this cartoon, 12 September 1915, lay in the irreconcilable demands of the adversaries. Most powerful German parties, agrarians, the great manufacturers, the military class, declared for annexation of portions of conquered territories, while British and French public opinion insisted on Germany's humiliation by the loss of her colonies and the restoration of Alsace-Lorraine to France."
