This photograph is from a volume entitled 'Photographs of houses in the vicinity of Lauriston Castle' which was compiled in 1909. The book has the armorial bookplate of Macknight Crawfurd of Cartsburn, Lauriston Castle, on the inside cover.
Corbiehill Road School was built around 1882 following the establishment of the Cramond School Board. It was only for boys, but had an adjoining girls school. Both schools could accommodate 123 pupils. As the local population grew the school was extended in 1889 and became co-educational in 1893. It was rebuilt in 1907 to accommodate 196 pupils who paid 4d a week to attend until the age of 14 when they left school or moved to a school in town to get a higher grade.
