Description
A view looking down a residential street in Edinburgh's Canonmills area.The street has a variety of town houses and larger dwellings. Each property has a front garden and there are tall trees on either side of the road. There are cars parked on both sides of the street. In the distance is Broughton Street and on the horizon, the outline of Edinburgh Castle.

Robert Louis Stevenson was born in Howard Place in November 1850. Howard Place is situated in the Canonmills area of Edinburgh, about three quarters of a mile north of the east end of Princes Street.
