Item dated 1st april 1834. The glen of Strathardle is said to be named after the Pictish leader, Ardle, whose grave stands in a private garden in the glen. The grave is also known as the "Giant's Grave" due to the fact that Ardle was unusually tall. Ardle died at Enochdhu in a skirmish with a group of marauding Danes.
