Description
Jan 15th 1917 Odessa
Since writing last, everything is changed & after the cable I talked things over with Dr. Chesney & am going home as soon as Mrs. Bagge can secure a place on the train. Crowds of refugees are going up to Petrograd just now, so travelling is rather difficult - however, Mrs. Bagge thinks we may get off to-morrow or next day. Some of the others from "A" Unit - those returning at the end of their 6 months-
have arrived here en route for home & are, likewise, waiting for places on the train, so there will be several of us all going together. I'm going out to Mrs. Bagge's now to tea & to say good-bye, then to the Consulate later. Mrs. Bagge has arranged for 3 of us to go tomorrow, so we leave here at 6 a.m. & get a train at 7. We should get to Petrograd in 3 or 4 days - I will be very sorry indeed
to say good-bye to my old unit - we've been very happy to-gether despite all our queer times & adventures. I must go & pack up now & also I must dash out & get some food for the train journey. We are going with 30 refugées [refugees], pretty packed I expect - however it won't be for very long. Must away now - will write from Petrograd, should be home in 12 or 14 days./
