Description
Tommy & an English officer - armoured car men. It's so nice being back in Odessa & seeing all our kind friends hereagain. Mrs Bagge (Consul's wife) is awfully good to Grant & I & we go out there for tea whenever we can work it in. One day we are off from 2-4, next from 4-6 - unless of course convoys arrive or anything unforeseen occurs. At present our beds are full - but no very bad cases. We are not "rushed" at all with such a big staff - for us!
1st Jan: 1917. Last night I was down at the station seeing 12 of the "Buffs" off home - back to Blighty! The Transport has been practically dissolved, the roads are impossible for cars & will be for some months to come, & the cars all badly in want of repair, so they are in Odessa at present being over-hauled & most of the Transport are going home. Some of them are coming out again in the Spring. The 1st contingent went off to-day - I was very sorry to see them go, as all my special friends were in this lot. This afternoon I went for a lovely walk with S. Henderson along the shore & all round the different harbours - & home by the "Deribasovskaya". We always do a little sight-seeing when off-duty - Odessa is really a very pretty place & so beautifully
