here. The cold is wicked - we nearly died last night in our horse-box - what it is to be at war!!
23rd : We are now nearing Odessa - thank goodness - all I hope is, that that, is to be our destination for the present! The cold
is intense, very severe frost & a biting wind. I will finish this anon, when I know what our fate is to be.
'evening: - Yes, here we are to stay - Dr. Chesney met us at the station & we were so delighted, when she told us, we were to have a hospital here & that we would probably be here for some months, till the Division moved again.
I've spent a very cold, weary day getting the stores out of the train, chequeing [checking] them & getting them safely conveyed
to the building we have got for a Hospital. I'm ready for bed now, so will close this & get it sent off fr. the Consulate to-morrow.
We have been given the top flat, of what is known as "The Greek School", for our hospital - it's a splendid place, just A1. for a hospital - except that it's about 6 flights up! There is one long ward which will hold about 50 beds, 3 smaller ones & a room which is just cut out for a theatre, white walls, linoleum floor, cold water laid in, etc:, ideal. There is no accomodation [accommodation] for the staff, unfortunately, we will
