Description
the patients & get the hospital stores packed up & "ready for the road" - I foresee a joyful time ahead of us seeing to those old stores!
This isn't much of a letter - but there's really no news - one day is much the same as another, just the usual hospital routine, day in, day out. Must away now & back to work./

18th December 1916 Bolgrad Bessarabia
Well, here we are so far on our journey. We left Ismail at 6 a.m. yesterday & trekked all day. We stopped at Cismenock - a little village ½ way between here & Ismail - & spent the night there. We started, each perched up, sky high on the top of a ricketly cart, containing Hospital stores; hard packing-cases which seemed all corners, but and it really was so terribly uncomfortable & "sore", that one by one we climbed down & "footed" it most of the way. It was such a desperately cold day too, that we were thankful to walk, to help to keep warm. It was very heavy walking - thanks to the mud - & by the time we reached Cismenock & had secured a "hut" we all felt about at the end of our tether. We made ourselves some
