Description
Dec:6th 1916 Ismail Bessarabia

Still here, but rumour has it that we may move off any day now - destination unknown! We justlive from day to day, never knowing where we may be, twelve hours hence!
We have absolutely been "on our own" the last few days. Dr. Chesney went off two days ago to see Dr.Inglis. Fortunately no bad cases have come in & there have been no emergency operations - things "is doing famously"! We have also made the most of our "off duty" time & the last 2 afternoons have been out riding. We used our persuasive powers with some of the officers & succeeded in getting 4 horses out of them! They were not ponies & not slim & the saddles were never made for females, but we managed to stick on & although bumped about somewhat, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We now find sitting down rather a painful process & what we long for is a good hot bath! Bar the excitement of our rides, things have been much as usual.
