Description
happy! Still, in the heart of every Russian there is a passionate love of goodness, & when they see in another goodness, greatness or strength, they worship it. And, above all, they love Russia. Undoubtedly they are an interesting & a promising people. There is a very fine old market here, the best & most interesting we have seen yet. All the old country "ladies" drive in in their country carts every morning, laden with country produce - There is also lovely pottery "on sale", such quaint, unusual shapes & colours. They have a lot of that beautiful black pottery, evidently it is made in the district.
It's getting very late & bed (or rather the floor!) attracts, so I must stop scribbling for to-night. Dr. Chesney talks of going up to Galatz as she wants to "consult" with Dr. Inglis - so she will take a mail
bag when she goes. What we want, is a mail bag to come to us!
Au revoir - for the present./
