Description
& v. beautiful indeed, did the Bay look in the setting sun. The crimson, purple & golden sky & the blue, blue waters & away towards Vesuvius & the Apennine Range, a pale pink glow overall. Later, a big, beautiful silver moon appeared & Naples in the moonlight was so enchanting. The shops in the town are v. ordinary, The Aquarium is one of the few places of any interest! There are some v. big, open
squares & gardens, but also some v. dirty, narrow streets & everywhere smells - also everywhere macaroni!!
We leave Naples to-morrow morning. Menawhile, I am very ready for a night's rest in a real bed - so now anon!

28th Feb: Train en route for Taranto
We left Naples this morning. I can't say much for the Hotels of the town - at least not the one we "struck". "Some" lively & "some" numerous were our little company- ions last night!! - Also we were somewhat cramped for room & it was a case of "three in a bed" on the floor! However, we survived - & hope have not carried away many of the inhabitants! It would be a pity to remove them from their natural surroundings!
We are "travelling" this lovely country, at present we are going through the orange & lemon growing district of Italy. Orange trees heavily laden with fruit, hardly a
