Description
A man looks out of a window of the gatehouse in Doune Castle. The fortification is in a state of disrepair, with parts that are derelict. The walls of the Great Hall feature carved animal heads used for drainage.

Doune Castle is situated close to the village of Doune, a few miles west of Dunblane. It was built in the late 14th century for Robert Stewart, the 1st Duke of Albany. It is currently run by Historic Environment Scotland and is open to the public.
