Clogs made out of thick leather with a wooden sole. Sole is reinforced with metal plates. Laces for fastening.

Museum of Edinburgh
Clogs were worn by workers in many industries across Britain well into the 20th century. They were relatively cheap to produce, hard wearing and protective of the feet. Their high sole with metal plates kept the wearer above dirty or dangerous substances on the floor.
