Order of 1557 by Mary Queen of Scots outlining the privileges of fleshers to sell flesh at the Tolbooth
Paper document handwritten on both sides in ink. Fold lines indicate it was once folded into quarters. The number 13 is written at the top of what would have been the front when folded. Dated 1557 on both sides. Written text relates to the privileges of fleshers (butchers) in terms of areas of trading and activities to be carried out. Signed by Mary Queen of Scots. A later museum number sticker is attached. A watermark of a hand holding a flower appears in the paper.
