Biography
James Drummond Shiels photographic business was established in 1899. The enterprise consisted of James Drummond Shiels (1853-1915), originally a lithographic printer and his two sons, James and Thomas. Their studio was situated at 70 Lauriston Place until 1944. One of the sons, Thomas Drummond Shiels (1881-1953), went on to become a physician and politician, eventually becoming Sir Thomas Drummond Shiels.
