Luss is a conservation village on the west shores of Loch Lomond.
Luss is an old, historical area. There is an 11th century Viking gravestone which inhabits the graveyard at Luss, this may be testament to the belief that the Vikings plundered the area and that some may have remained behind. In the 6th Century, Saint MacKessog of Ireland founded a monastery on Inchtavannach (the islands name at the time) and the present day church; The Church of St McKessog (which was built to commemorate the drowning of Sir James Colquhoun and four others who drowned in Lomond in 1873) honours this patron.
These days Luss is better known by the alternative name of Glendarroch, as the setting for this fictional village in the long-running Scottish drama 'Take the High Road'
