Title
Edinburgh Castle from the Grassmarket
Description
Edinburgh Castle and the castle rock tower over the inns of the Grassmarket. As well as taverns such as the Black Bull, a tobacco and snuff manufacturer and saddlers can also be seen. Outside the buildings a variety of carts stand in the process of being loaded and unloaded. The Grassmarket has always been a centre of commerce. It was a terminus for coaches coming to Edinburgh from London and Newcastle and a site of regular markets.
