Title
Grassmarket - south side, east end from Victoria Terrace (Royal Infirmary and Heriots Hospital in distance)
Description
The view of the south end of the Grassmarket as seen from Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh. The buildings of Victoria Street frame either side of the image, some of which have washing hanging from the windows. In the middle of the road is a large well head. Some people stand around the Covenanter's Monument to the right. Shops line the lower part of the Grassmarket's buildings. Among them is a wholesale Crockery Store and Alex MacBeth, a Spirit Merchant. Behind the buildings the towers of George Heriot's School and the Royal Infirmary can be seen.
