A Newhaven fisherman wearing a hat, light coloured canvas trousers and waistcoat leans on a clinker-built boat. The boat has the word "Newhaven" and the the surname "Linton" painted on it. Three boys sit beside the fishing boat. One child is bare footed while the other two children have Tam o'Shanter hats on.
