St Giles Church from the north-west, altered 1827
A busy scene outside St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh. The central tower of the cathedral, with its distinctive crown-shaped spire, can be seen above the arched windows and large doorway. Many men, women and children stand outside the cathedral. There is a horse and cart, a small dog, and men carrying buckets and ladders.
