Firemaster Pordage (seated in centre) photographed with his fire crew in grounds of Lauriston Fire Station Headquarters, Edinburgh
The firemen of the Edinburgh Fire Brigade pose for a photograph in front of an early motorised fire engine. They are arranged in a semi-circular shape, with some sitting and the others standing behind. The Firemaster, Arthur Pordage, is seated in the middle of the front row. They are all wearing uniforms including long leather boots and caps. Edinburgh College of Art can be seen in the background and a tall set of ladders stands to the left hand side.
