Title
No. 3. Playtime, an illustrated page from 'A Day in a Child's Life'
Description
At the top of the page a snaking line of children in early 19th century dress (each child is holding onto the the dress or skeleton suit of the child in front) sweeps round in front of a green picket fence. The child at the front is the tallest and holds an parasol. Behind the fence are thatched houses and gardens, and forming a frame to the picture at the top and sides are skipping ropes.
Below, an arch of pink poppies form a headpiece to the music for the melody and piano accompaniment below. The words read:
'No. 3 Playtime.

March, march away! March, march away!
To the playground lead the way:
All our lessons now are past,
Left foot first, and not too fast:
Oh, 'tis nice, each sunny day,
Thus to enjoy ourselves in play!'

A tailpiece of a red dahlia-like flower lies at the bottom of the page.
