Edinburgh's Caledonian Station stood at the corner of Lothian Road and Rutland Street. It was built in the late 1890's, and completed shortly before the accompanying station hotel opened in 1903. The Caledonian Hotel's red sandstone was brought to the site by rail from quarries in Dumfries. The station was directly connected to the hotel by an impressive entrance.
Declining use led to the station's closure by British Rail in 1965. It was demolished some time later and the area now serves as a car park for the Caledonian Hotel.
