Description
A bearded man holding a roll of parchment looks down at an adolescent child who also holds a roll of parchment. In the upper left of the picture an identical child (with a differing tunic pattern) looks at his face in a hand mirror. The scene is set in an interior decorated with classical motifs; behind the figures a curtain hangs partly open to reveal a statue. The rhyme reads:
"Brother and Sister

Twin children: the girl she was plain;
The brother was handsome and vain;
"Let him brag of his looks,"
Father said; mind your books!
The best beauty is bred in the brain."

Handsome is as handsome does."
