The Shop-Girl was a very successful musical comedy first produced in 1894, written by H. J. W. Dam, with music by Ivan Caryll and Lionel Monckton. The Shop-Girl Valse is an arrangement based on this by Procida Bucalossi, who was prolific in arranging ballroom dance numbers during the 1870s and 80s. A chorus line of intermittent jesters and female dancers in white appears on the top, against an inky blue background. The bottom half contains on the left the song title with composers and on the right an imprint by H.G. Banks of a young girl in typical Victorian dress holding a basket of flowers.
