The photograph is dated 4th August 1902, almost a week before the coronation of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in London. Colonial troops gathered in Edinburgh prior to travelling to London and marched through the streets to the acclaim of the crowds.
The Band of the Black Watch is marching in the Canongate in Edinburgh's Royal Mile.
