Description
is choke-full of wounded & troops & it was with the very greatest difficulty that we found a corner at all.
We secured the building for the Hospital first & them just had to dump ourselves down in the nearest available vacant corner. Ismail is a very old Russian frontier town on the Danube, it is beautifully situated & in Spring & Summer must be just perfect. At present it is a wee cold & bleak - but wonderful considering the time of the year. The town is very picturesquely laid out, there are rows of trees along all the streets & beautiful gardens situated in different parts of the town. It's a great summer resort, lots of bathing & boating then & it seems to be a great place for schools & colleges. I'll tell you more about it later, after I've had time to explore a bit!
The first few days we were busy getting the Hospital in order & very soon we were full up. Our patients are chiefly Serbian - a few Russians, but they are in the minority. The more I see of the Serbs the more I like them, they are such dears.
