Description
can take 200 patients, all Russians of course. We were highly amused to see those thick set, bearded Russians in our Hospital "blues".
We are going to the Embassy to tea to-morrow. Lady Georgina Buchannan [Buchanan] & her daughter called to see us to-day after church & they were so kind & nice. Will write again soon./

28th Jan: 1917. "The British Nursing Home". Petrograd.
Still here, but we hope in another few days to get our permits. We've spent a lot of time this past week running between the Consulate & the Red X. Commissioners worrying them about our permits. It's easier to get in to Russia than to get out of it! And from what we hear it will become yet more difficult - there are rumours of a Revolution on all sides - one hears it everywhere. Things are becoming very serious -thanks to the Tsarina & her party. They seem to be doing their best to starve the people & the troops in to making peace. The people in Petrograd are dying of starvation, no flour is coming in to the town. They can't get bread & the prices are
simple [simply] impossible. It can't go on. Of course Rasputin's death is still the talk. It's a blessing they've got rid of him
