Description
'Moses II leads his chosen people through the Red Sea to the promised (Eng)land.'

'The artist's delightful vision of the Chosen People en route for the new Jerusalem hides a sly allusion to the Kaiser's political pilgrimage in 1898 to the Holy Land, when a large gap was made in the walls of the Holy City for his triumphant entry. The Kaiser's declaration at Damascus, at a banquet given in his honour, "Say to the three hundred million Moslems of the world that I am their friend", is better known than his admonition to Christians to follow the path of virtue, " nothing but the lives that Christians lead can make any impression upon Mohammedans. No one can blame them if they have no respect for the name of Christians." What is William Saying to himself as he advances with an assurance born of his good intentions? Perhaps his recalling the famous passage of his dream of a German World-Empire founded on Europe's esteem.'
