The photograph is dated 4th August 1902, almost a week before the coronation of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in London. Colonial troops gathered in Edinburgh prior to travelling to London and marched through the streets to the acclaim of the crowds.
These two photographs show Indian troops marching along Leith Street with Summers Dining Room in the background. Beneath the bottom photograph there is a handwritten note, an 'x' indicating the man walking and description: 'Cranston as an Indian'
