Description
shelter from the sun & should be cooler & fresher than the "smelly" surgical tents. In time we will be quite a model little hospital. We will probably get orders to "move" whenever all is completed!! I am penning this, sitting under a tree, some 10 mins walk from the camp. The tree W. and I call "ours"! A few seconds ago, I felt something move close by, I looked up (or to be exact woke up!) & saw 2 little green lizards playing hide-and-seek at my feet. I sighed a sigh of relief at seeing the lizards & not a snake! The latter are v. partial to the "S.W." & too often take refuge in our tents & visit us when we "sit out"! The lizards are such playful little creatures & are such a lovely, brilliant green colour. The butterflies & moths we see here are very beautiful, also the blue & black dragonfly & I love the little glow-worms that shine like diamonds in the dark. I wish I knew more about natural history, this is certainly the land for lovers of nature study.
What a funny mixture - I started with French Generals & finish up with glow-worms!! Well, a little of everything, in these days of war!

July 4th Verbliani.
Poor MacW. was buried to-day. She had been very ill with dysentery for some weeks, but we always hoped against hope,
