superb. Mt. Olympus could be seen from everywhere - indeed a mystic mountain, as it disappears during the day & re-appears, as beautiful as ever, every evening & every morning!

March 27th Salonique.
Still here, but rumour says we move "up the line" tomorrow, so let us hope rumour for once is true! We've had a splendid time here & everyone has been so good to us, but we are longing to get started to work.
Yesterday we had such a "razzle" - we were away all day long, enjoying life, in a "Tin Lizzie" (form of motor transport well known in these parts, especially by the "S.W."!). We did have a lovely day. We started at 9a.m. - 5 of us in all - all in the best of spirits
& top of our form! We first called a halt at Mikra - some 11 or 12 kilometres out of Salonique - & examined the old Turkish Sulphur Baths there. A huge, round stone building & inside natural hot sulphur baths - most wonderful - at home such a spot would be a famous "watering place" - here, it is still obscure & unknown in one of the filthiest of Macedonian villages! When at Mikra, we saw the Jewish women baking Passover bread for Easter, a mixture which consists of dates, raisins, spices & flour. After leaving Mikra, we motored miles & miles along the valley, past Sedes village & in to the heart of Macedonia. All along the road we kept meeting shepherds with their flocks of sheep & goats.
