Raemaekers accuses the German military of using citizens of conquered nations as slaves, since people were forced to help a cause they did not support. Raemaekers appeals to his audience's belief in the importance of family by showing German soldiers forcing a man to leave his family. His wife and daughter reach out in despair, and he pulls back towards them. A German soldier pulls him by scarf, treating him like an animal on a leash.
