Description
if I could get some hill air I'd begin to pick up again. The war news is still splendid. Serbs still pushing on, same on British front, the British have occupied [?] village & Bulgars retreating in great disorder. We have captured 10,000 prisoners &120 guns, the latter item, surely, a very serious loss to the under-gunned Bulgarian army. The weather is still terribly warm, I feel
as if I could hardly breathe living "under a roof" after months & months of canvas.

Sept: 26th Convalescent Camp - Horliack.
Another change of address! It's a case of shifting camps pretty frequently these days! I came up here yester: morning & it is lovely to be among hills & in the country again! This is a beautifully situated camp, it lies at the foot of Horliack and Kotus & oh such wonderful air! It is still most extraordinarily hot - but one blessing, up here the nights are cool. The S.W.H. have their own tent here, which is exceedingly nice for all us "Scotties", as we have privacy & peace!! W. is also here, which is great. She was dispatched to the 43rd the week before me with malaria - she was going home anyhow so is not so sick about things as I am! There are some 70 "convalescents" up here at present (Sisters and [?]) at all stages in the health line!
The war news from all fronts is most cheering. We see no papers
