Description
it must be a big move forward. They have got to drive them over the mountains & so get them "on the run" - a tremendous undertaking, almost too big to contemplate.

Sept: 16th Verbliani.
The great offensive has begun, not only on "our" front, but along the whole line -Serbian, French, British, Italian & Greek all pushing forward in one big movement. On the whole front between Monastir and Lake Doiran the Bulgar, German & Austrian armies are retreating, hastily destroying their stores. [?] Monastir & in the Cerna Loop the French, Italian & Greek columns have occupied the whole important system of defence constituting the first enemy position. On the right the Serbian Armies under its great commander [?] Mishich, supported by some French units, have crossed the Cerna along its whole lower course & have reached Prilep & have occupied on the Vardar the important road junctions of Gradsko & Kavadar. While to the East, the British troops have passed [?] & have captured the whole first enemy line of defence between the Vardar & [?]. The enemy, they say, is hurriedly retreating in front of our troops. He is setting fire to the villages & burning all his rear establishments & everywhere, he is being obliged to abandon important material to us. Since the beginning of the offensive - but 2 days ago - 7,000 prisoners & 100 guns
