Description
This seascape is dominated by the small family group of mother and baby and three children, who huddle together and watch the return of two sailing boats, sailing for shelter and their home port. On the opposite shore, under a clouded sky and mist covered hillside, the rooftops of the fishermen's cottages can be seen, with their boats bobbing at anchor on the cresting waves. The whole scene is highlighted by patches of sunlight in which the waiting figures assume a luminous presence.
