The accompanying text in 'The Clans of the Scottish Highlands' by James Logan begins as follows: "SIOL CHRUIMEINN - THE MAC CRUIMINS The MacCruimins were not distinguished as chiefs of their clan, nor, although they possessed the national military ardour, were they particularly renowned in war. They were, however, the most celebrated pipers in the Highlands, and ranked deservedly high as musicians, while the ancient manners still existed."
