216 soldiers of the 7th (Leith) Battalion of the Royal Scots were killed in the Quintinshill rail crash of 1915. A funeral procession was held from the Battalion's Drill Hall in Dalmeny Street to Rosebank Cemetery in Pilrig Street, where a memorial was unveiled by Lord Rosebery a year later.
