Accompanying text reads:
"The parish church of a village on the dead-straight ancient road across the Santerre plateau from Amiens eastward to the Somme at Brie and on to Vermand. On the floor of the ruined church is seen the entrance to a French dug-out. Foucaucort was a mile and a half behind the French front when the Battle of the Somme began."
