Description
A group of Victorian school girls have their photograph taken with their teacher Mary Hunter. The girls are wearing dresses with an assortment of white pinafores and lace collars. The girls mostly have long hair that is swept up at the sides although three have had their hair cut short. They are outside and are pictured against a stone building.

Annotation on item's mount board reads 'shows Mary Hunter'.
Dean Primary School was located on Dean Path beside the Water of Leith. It opened in 1875 and remained in use as a school until 1961. The building was converted to flats in the 1980's.
