Excerpt from page "Salisbury Crags, Radical Road 1820 - The weavers who cannot find employment at the loom are now engaged on forming a road 12 feet wide along the foot of Salisbury Crags from the point where they join the Arthur's Seat on the south of the Place of Holyrood House, which when finished will form one of the finest and most romantic promenades in Europe", Edinburgh Evening Courant Feb 10th 1820.
