Lawnmarket is the section of Edinburgh's Royal Mile running from its junction with Johnston Terrace to where it meets George IV Bridge. Regular markets were held in this area until the late 18th century.

A statue of David Hume, the eighteenth century Scottish philosopher, economist and historian, stands outside the High Court of Justiciary on the Lawnmarket. The statue is neo-classical in style. It was made by the sculptor Alexander Stoddart and unveiled in 1997.
