A Tale of Two Cities is Dickens' twelve novel and is set during the French Revolution.
Sydney Carton is a lawyer who manages to get Charles Darnay released from a charge of treason. Carton later finds himself at the guillotine in the place of Darnay where he utters the immortal line: It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known.
