Title
No. 8. Child's Prayer, an illustrated page from 'A Day in a Child's Life'
Description
In a central oval at the top of the page, a child in a red gown kneels in prayer beside a basket. On either side of the oval are two small garlands of white anenome-like flowers, and below, is the music (a melody plus piano accompaniment) for the eighth piece, Child's Prayer. The words are as follows:
'1. Jesus, tender Shepherd, hear me,
Bless Thy little lamb tonight;
Thro' the darkness be Thou near me,
Watch my sleep till morning light:

Jesus hear me! hear me, tender Shepherd!

2. Let my sins be all forgiven,
Bless the friends I love so well;
Take me, when I die, to heaven,
Happy there with Thee to dwell:

Jesus hear me! hear me, tender Shepherd!'

Two tailpieces finish off the page: the stem of a yellow brush-like flower; and a second smaller oval with a child in it, again in a red gown, this time holding a candlestick.
